Global Oklahoma Gathering
Featuring Dr. Randy Kluver
Tuesday, September 22, 2026
OSU Hamm Institute for American Energy
Please join Global Oklahoma for a statewide gathering featuring organizational and partner updates, networking, lunch, and a keynote program with Dr. Randy Kluver at the OSU Hamm Institute for American Energy on Tuesday, September 22.
We are pleased to feature Dr.Randy Kluver, Associate Provost and Dean of OSU Global and the School of Global Studies at Oklahoma State University, as our guest speaker.
Dr. Kluver’s newest book, Chào to Main Street: An Account of Vietnamese Refugees in Western Oklahoma, preserves the remarkable story of Vietnamese families who resettled in rural Oklahoma following the fall of Saigon in 1975. Written by his parents, Mary and Ordell Kluver, and edited with a foreword by Dr. Kluver, the book chronicles their sponsorship of more than 200 Vietnamese refugees and the lasting relationships that grew from those efforts. Through oral histories, personal accounts, and historical context, Chào to Main Street highlights the resilience of refugee families and the ways they enriched the communities they came to call home.
A nationally recognized scholar and author of five books, Dr. Kluver brings both a personal connection and an academic perspective to this important chapter of Oklahoma history. His work reflects a lifelong commitment to fostering global understanding and demonstrating how international stories become an integral part of local communities.
Before the featured program, attendees will hear brief updates from Global Oklahoma and partners working across business, government, education, culture, and international engagement statewide. The gathering is designed both to keep our community connected to what is happening across Oklahoma and to create opportunities for new relationships and collaboration.
If you are a Global Oklahoma member, please try to attend. Members are encouraged to invite guests, and non-members are welcome to attend this special event.
